JOGQとは何だったのか。What was JOGQ?

JOGQは、熊本県人吉市のNHKラジオ第1に使われていた呼出符号です。1960年代の資料では、1240 kHz・1 kWの放送局として確認できます。

JOGQ was the call sign used for NHK Radio 1 at Hitoyoshi in Kumamoto Prefecture. Station directories from the 1960s list it on 1240 kHz at 1 kW.

呼出符号The call sign

「JOGQ」は局名ではなく、放送局を識別する符号。“JOGQ” was a call sign: an identifier for the station.

日本の放送局には、JOで始まる呼出符号が割り当てられてきました。人吉ではラジオ第1にJOGQ、ラジオ第2にはJOGVが使われた時期があります。

Japanese broadcast stations have long used call signs beginning with JO. At Hitoyoshi, JOGQ was used for Radio 1, while JOGV was used for Radio 2 for part of the same period.

このサイトでは「JOGQ」を分かりやすい呼び名として使いますが、歴史資料では「NHK人吉放送局」「人吉中継放送所」など、時期によって異なる表現が見られます。

This site uses “JOGQ” as a convenient name, while historical sources may describe the facility in different ways, including NHK Hitoyoshi Broadcasting Station or the Hitoyoshi relay facility.

二次的な呼出符号資料では、人吉の放送は1946年5月26日にJOGK-8として始まり、1948年7月1日にJOGQへ変更されたとされています。JOGQは1958年3月に一度廃止されたのち、1961年4月1日に復活し、1967年11月1日まで使われました。

Secondary call-sign records trace the Hitoyoshi service back to 26 May 1946 under JOGK-8, changing to JOGQ on 1 July 1948. JOGQ was withdrawn in March 1958, restored on 1 April 1961, and remained in use until 1 November 1967.

大切な区別An important distinction

1967年は「呼出符号の廃止」であって、単純な「放送終了」ではない。1967 marks withdrawal of the call sign — not simply the disappearance of radio service.

NHKが人吉の局をどのような組織単位から中継施設へ整理したのか、その決定文書や一次資料は引き続き探索中です。「合理化だった」と断定するには、より直接的な資料が必要です。We are still looking for primary documentation showing precisely how NHK reorganised Hitoyoshi and the stated reason for doing so. It is better not to reduce the change to a simple “rationalisation” without that evidence.
